Tiltrotator Grapples & Attachments for Excavators

Tiltrotators have changed how excavators are used on site. Increased articulation, extended reach, and improved positioning allow operators to work with greater precision, but they also place different demands on attachments.

Grapples and cutting tools used with tiltrotators must be designed with:

  • Additional articulation in mind
  • Controlled geometry under angled loads
  • Correct mounting and interface compatibility

Not every grapple or attachment is well suited to this type of installation.

Powerhand offers a range of tiltrotator-compatible grapples and attachments, engineered to integrate cleanly with modern tiltrotator systems and support controlled, efficient operation across forestry, waste, recycling, and materials handling applications.

Designed to Work With Leading Tiltrotator Systems

Powerhand tiltrotator-compatible attachments are suitable for use with leading tiltrotator systems from Rototilt, Engcon, Steelwrist, and OilQuick.

Attachments can be supplied to suit common quick hitch interfaces including S45, S60, S70, and S80, allowing straightforward integration into existing excavator and tiltrotator setups without modification.

Choosing the Right Attachment for Tiltrotator Applications

Rather than offering a single ‘tiltrotator grapple’, we provide different attachment solutions depending on your operation. This allows operators to select the right tool for the work being carried out, while ensuring compatibility with the added articulation and load paths introduced by tiltrotator installations.

EX Series Forestry Grapples

The Powerhand EX Series forestry grapples are designed for forestry, arb, and biomass handling applications on excavators equipped with tiltrotators.

Key features include:

  • Compatibility with tiltrotator installations
  • Geometry suited to handling timber, brash, and biomass under angled loads
  • ‘Big log’ handling characteristics that improve control of large-diameter timber

The EX Series is well suited to operators who want the flexibility of a tiltrotator combined with a grapple designed specifically for forestry and biomass work.

Grapple Saw Solutions for Tiltrotator-Equipped Excavators

For operators carrying out cutting and handling with a single attachment setup, we offer tiltrotator-compatible grapple saw solutions.

Configurations are available for:

  • Forestry
  • Arb and vegetation management
  • Tiltrotator-equipped excavators requiring controlled cutting and placement

These systems allow cutting, handling, and stacking to be carried out efficiently without changing attachments, improving productivity and reducing rehandling on site.

Terragrip Rake Grapple

The Powerhand Terragrip rake grapple is designed for stump removal, root ripping, and forest floor raking in demanding forestry applications.

Key characteristics include:

  • One fixed leg that acts as a root ripper and ground rake
  • A second moving leg to secure material during extraction and handling
  • Nearly 180 degrees of movement in the moving leg for improved load control and visibility

Manufactured using hardened steel tines for strength and durability, the Terragrip is well suited to heavy-duty forestry groundworks and can be supplied for direct excavator mounting, tiltrotator installation, or with its own heavy-duty rotation unit. It is designed for excavators in the 14 to 25 tonne range.

Powerhand SG Multi Purpose Grapple
SG Series Sorting Grapples

The Powerhand SG Series sorting grapples are designed for waste, recycling, and materials handling applications where tiltrotators are used to improve reach, positioning, and control.

Key characteristics include:

  • Geometry optimised for sorting and rehandling
  • Grapple shells that open beyond the vertical for effective bin and container emptying
  • Sealed bushings to retain grease and exclude debris in abrasive environments

The SG Series is commonly used in recycling yards, waste transfer stations, and industrial handling operations where precision and durability are critical.

Machine Size and Installation Guidance

Tiltrotator installations place additional demands on excavator capacity, so attachment selection should consider machine size, tiltrotator weight, and the intended application.

Powerhand tiltrotator-compatible attachments are commonly used on excavators in the following ranges:

  • 6–10 tonnes
  • 10–14 tonnes
  • 14–18 tonnes
  • 18–25 tonnes

Full specifications, installed weights, and mounting details are provided on the individual product pages.
